Unity Village Administration Building

Rewerts conduced a comprehensive physical evaluation of the entire exterior facade of this historic, very large, precast concrete building which serves as the Administration Building on the sprawling Unity Village Campus, in Unity Village, MO.

This is a very early usage of precast concrete.  The exterior wall panels are as thin as 2 inches, and there are a multitude of different colors and finishes in the precast panels throughout the building.  

Extensive carbonation-induced corrosion of embedded reinforcing steel and connection steel was found throughout the exterior facade. In addition, areas of the precast concrete panels and ornamental balustrades along exterior stairs were found to suffer from various forms of freeze-thaw degradation.
