Mr. Rewerts has been involved in a number of projects at this Chicago landmark building. Projects include: a comprehensive field and laboratory investigation of the terra cotta cladding on the exterior of the building, as part of the ongoing major exterior restoration program; evaluation of distress in a marble–faced stairway within the South Building; evaluation of distressed clay tile flat arch roof system in the North Building; evaluation, design, and supervision of repairs to the terra cotta clad parapet wall around the lantern at the top of the tower on the South Building; the evaluation, design, and supervision of the program for removal of underground storage tanks located just outside the North Building; the investigation of the interior suspended ceiling system in the Buildings; replacement of the ornamental spire on the north tower cupola; and others. Work included preparation of very detailed contract plans and specifications for repair of the architectural terra cotta cladding for both towers, followed by construction observation services during the performance of the repair work.
