Ground Movements Under a Large In-Ground Swimming Pool

Picture
Rewerts was engaged to determine the causes of extensive and unusual cracking in a large in-ground swimming pool which had recently been constructed in a residential neighborhood.  The investigation determined that the pool was constructed on compacted fill containing expansive clay.  Signs of both swelling soils and differential settlements were present, leading to the observed cracking in the pool walls and basin.
