Hurricane Iniki, Kauai, Hawaii, 1992
Working as a consultant with Madsen, Kneppers & Associates, Inc., we performed structural engineering investigations of numerous structures to assess the nature and extent of serious damage caused by ocean surge, wave action, and wind during the passage of Hurricane Iniki. Iniki is the most powerful hurricane to ever strike the State of Hawaii, with sustained winds of 140 mph when it made landfall.
