14th & K Retention System Failure, Washington, D.C.
Rewerts was part of a team that performed a comprehensive structural engineering Investigation to determine the causes of the catastrophic collapse of a four-story deep underground earth retention system at the site of the construction of a 10-story office building in downtown Washington, D.C. The retention system consisted of a complex structural steel cross-lot bracing structure. The entire system imploded causing extensive damage to the site and the surrounding streets and sidewalks.
