Rewerts performed a detailed structural engineering investigation to determine the causes of cracking and vertical, in-plane displacement of sections of the brick veneer cladding a this portion of the Truman High School complex.

The distress was determined to be due to original design defects in the manner in which the steel support shelf angles for that brick veneer were installed.  Numerous failures of the anchorages for those shelf angles were found.
