Burnsville Senior High School, Burnsville, MN
This early project literally defined the career of Mr. Rewerts. It involved the comprehensive field and office structural engineering investigation to determine the causes of the catastrophic collapse of a nearly completed steel-framed roof over an interior courtyard within the bounds of the existing Burnsville Senior High School.
Work included assisting the legal team who successfully defended the original architect of record who designed the addition. The collapse was found to have been caused by erection anomalies that occurred during the setting of the steel-framed roof support columns, and the long-span steel roof trusses supported thereon. The project concluded with Rewerts designing and supervising the construction of a replacement roof system. The worked was performed as part of a team of engineers under the direction of Charles H. Raths, President of Raths, Raths and Johnson, Inc. |
